Extra Durable Pavement
W-Spax
What is W-Spax?
W-Spax is a mixture which was developed for protecting the rutting and corrugation (plastic flow) difficult to be solved by ordinary asphalt mixtures and for protecting the raveling in snowy cold areas.
As modifier for this mixture, there are two kinds of modifier namely C-100 (for use to rutting resistance) and C-200 (for use to raveling resistance). Both of them are chloroprene co-polymer.
Features
  1. As the modifier is added at mixing plant, small amount of production is possible.
  2. The modifiers are emulsified and easy to handle.
  3. The mixture shows no sticking and spinning phenomenon, so do not stick to neumatic tires.B
  4. Excellent at rutting resistance at high temperature. (C-100)
  5. As the modified binders are excellent at adhesivity to aggregates, the mixtures are excellent at raveling resistance and crack resistance at low temperature. (C-200)
Where to use?
(In case C-100 modifier is used)
  1. For heavily trafficked roads and for sections of roads where braking of vehicle are frequent.
and for roads heavy vehicle traffic is large, intersections, bus stops, slopes and etc.
  2. For pavements where specially heavy vehicle loads are estimated.
Truck terminal, yards in factories, container yards, airports and etc.
(In case C-200 modifier is used)
  1. For snowy cold areas.
Roads where raveling by tire chains are estimated.

  2. For pavements where large deformation and vibration are estimated.
Decks of bridges (steel decks, (reinforced concrete slabs and etc.).
