In snowy cold area or mountaineous area, the freezing is a big problem for not only the residents in those areas but for the people who drive for leisure recreation activity of winter season. Especially after the prohibition of studded tires, it became more important to road surface not frozen. We WatanabeSato developed asphalt mixtures to solve this problem and prepared to supply them.Hereunder introduced are these asphalt mixtures. | NF-Top type I | This is a asphalt mixture that contains granular or flour like freezing retarder consisted of mainly Calcium chloride, Natrium chloride and Calcium carbonate.
Effects--- When water infiltrate in asphalt mixtures, the added freezing retarder resolves and this liquid melt and retard the frozen ices on road surface. An effect almost same as the effect that is observed when calcium chlorides are sprayed on road surface is expected. | | NF-Top type II | This is a asphalt mixture that contains rubber grains as aggregates (crushed waste tires).
Effects--- Road surfaces become elastic due to added rubber grains. This elastic pavement surface deforms under the load of vehicle tires and then the frozen ices on road surface are fractured. As a result, the slippage due to frozen road surface is mitigated. Moreover, the addition of rubber grains is expected to have the effect of resistance to raveling and crack prevention due to the increased flexibility. | | Mr. Snowmelter | This is not a pavement. But for places where visibility is poor or open section between closely neighbored tunnels, we prepare Mr. Snowmelter which melts snow by heat pipes.
Effects--- The heat pipes efficiently transfer the heat to the road surface. And this system is energy saving by our original control method. | |
